I've been reading through the archives (lots of great info, by the way) and have come across several references to just projecting my film on the wall (or screen) and recording it with the camcorder. Is it really as simple as that? I've been shooting film (K40) to get familiar with exposures, lighting, etc...and want to play around with video editing and sync'ing sound before I jump off into my planned short film. All the sound has been recorded wild and I'll foley in whatever else I need (my friends are easily impressed, so it'll work). My question is, other than picture quality, will there be any difference between this and pro transfer? Quality isn't really an issue at this point...just need to get it in the computer somehow.
Also wondering if anyone here's ever used Java Photo out of Athens, GA for transfer? They've been extremely helpful when I've called or e-mailed them. Thanks!
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No its not that simple. If you shoot at 18 fps then you have to project at 20 fps in order for there to be no Flicker (camcorder at 1/60 shutter speed). If you shoot 24 fps then I think you have to project at 24 with a 5 blade shutter on the projector. Then there is alignment issues, hot spot issues, speed drift on projector etc...Originally posted by bongwater:
